Mike Ashley has become better and better at feeding the Newcastle fans lies. Most of the supporters believed that once Aleksandar Mitrovic had been sold the money would be put towards new signings, as well as around £50 million extra that the club made over last season. However, Mitro has now been sold to Fulham and with the money coming in instalments, the fans won’t see it.
Mitrovic’s £22m fee – eye-watering as it is – won’t enable #NUFC to make big money moves of their own. It's antcipated that the fee will be paid in instalments. Benitez, is resigned to the fact that he won’t see all of that money in this transfer window. https://t.co/BJ0aAfJmlk

According to The Chronicle, Rafa Benitez is resigned to the fact that he won’t receive all of the money from the Mitrovic sale in this transfer window. With just nine days left in the window, the fans will be praying that at least some of the money will be reinvested to help Benitez sign some cover up front. At the moment the club has Joselu and Dwight Gayle as recognised strikers, whilst Yoshinori Muto is nearing a move to Tyneside.
Another move that looks to be nearing completion is one for Salomon Rondon, although that will likely see Gayle going in the other direction as The Baggies look to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, with Gayle’s goals in the Championship proving key to Newcastle’s promotion back in the 2016/17 season. Rondon would be a good addition but with Gayle being used to cut the price, it will be interesting to see if any further money is spent on players.

All clubs pay deals in instalments now. No reason why @NUFC couldn’t do the same. The fact that we are receiving the Mitro money in instalments should not be an excuse for not paying big fees but the club (and specifically Ashley and Charnley) will not doubt try use it

Just from this, you can see that the fans are far from surprised that the club is failing to reinvest the Mitrovic money.
