The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s tweet as they appreciate the goalscoring form of Chris Smalling. The defender has bagged three goals in his last three away games against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and now Manchester City as he continues his magnificent goalscoring run. Chris Smalling’s opener yesterday at the Vitality Stadium was probably the easier goal he’ll score as Jesse Lingard’s pull back across the face of goal gave the 28-year-old new choice but to score. Now though, the defender will be looking to this Saturday’s FA Cup fixture against Tottenham Hotspur as he looks to take his run of goals away from Old Trafford to four in four against Spurs.
Jose Mourinho claimed before yesterdays game that places were up for grabs as they took to the South coast to play a strong Bournemouth side that sit 11th in the Premier League. If anyone stood out to answer Mourinho’s call then it was Smalling who, after his recent displays, simply has to start against Mauricio Pochettino’s side alongside Eric Bailly at the heart of United’s defence.
