Mount and Bryson expected to return for Rotherham clash

Derby County fans were able to enjoy a rather relaxing Saturday as their side’s clash with Swansea City had to be rescheduled due to the Swans’ FA Cup quarter-final match. Indeed, not having a game actually worked well for the Rams as they can now focus on welcoming players back from injury.

Mason Mount and Craig Bryson are two key first-team players who are currently on the mend, but they could be set to play a big part in Derby’s play-off push with their return on the horizon.

What’s the news?

Frank Lampard expects to have Mason Mount and Craig Bryson available for Derby’s next Championship fixture against Rotherham United after the international break, according to Derbyshire Live.

Here’s what the Englishman had to say:

They will both be back for Rotherham. Mason has been a loss, obviously, because he was playing very well.

Him, alongside Craig Bryson, were big parts of some of our really big performances earlier in the season, up to midway through the season in fact because they have an energy and a desire to win the ball back.”

The Verdict:

Derby County fans must be over the moon with the news.

Mason Mount established himself as one of the best in the Championship during the first half of the season as he produced a number of valuable contributions and got the Rams’ promotion push on track. He’s clearly been missed in recent times at Pride Park as Lampard’s side have lacked creativity and a cutting edge in the final third.

Craig Bryson’s experience could prove crucial in what is now the business end of the season and it’s safe to say he has the quality to influence the game in all areas of the field, so both his and Mount’s return will be huge for the Rams.

Derby County fans, surely this is the kind of news that could give you that extra boost in the race for a play-off spot…
