The Red Devils are riding high at the top of the Premier League table, with so many players performing fantastically in recent weeks.
One player that has earned a lot of plaudits in the Transfer Tavern is Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian has enjoyed a fantastic start to the season, proving vital to the Man Utd attack having made 5 goals already.
However, despite his success, Jose Mourinho seemingly still isn’t happy. According to ESPN, citing sources close to Man Utd, Jose Mourinho is hoping to see even more from Mkhitaryan this season – particularly against the top six. It’s noted that whilst Mourinho thinks that he has done well, the manager wants to see him command games against bigger sides in a fashion that he has yet to do.
Significantly, he wants to see a good performance against Liverpool – a big game that takes place in a little over a months time, and Mourinho is expecting better performances over the next month in order to facilitate that.
It’s true that whilst Mkhitaryan has had a big impact this term, he has yet to play a big side and dominate – and that’s a failing that stretches back to last season.
Still, he deserves a lot of credit for how well he has done since forcing his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans. The manager is always a perfectionist, and the Armenian has felt that more than most.
Landlord’s Verdict
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is one of the Premier League’s best midfielders, but Jose Mourinho clearly wants more.
Man Utd are on course for a Premier League title challenge, and Mourinho has often been Europe’s best at getting the most out of his playing staff.
That said, if Mkhitaryan continues his current run of form, the Portuguese can have little complaint.
