Mourinho must exploit his former club Chelsea to land these 2 players this summer

Manchester United supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting an eventful few weeks in the summer transfer market.

Having secured the signing of Victor Lindelöf from Benfica, United are widely expected to further augment the quality of their squad with new arrivals at Old Trafford this transfer window.  A whole host of illustrious stars has been linked with moves to the Red Devils this summer. Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku are just two examples who have dominated media speculation in recent weeks.

With United eager to improve their league position and fight for three major trophies, it is entirely plausible to suggest that they’ll be spending big this summer as a method of improving the quality of Mourinho’s squad and the options that he has at his disposal.

Accordingly, our landlord believes that the Red Devils manager should try to utilise his connections with champions Chelsea, as a way of strengthening his team. Here are two players that Mourinho should sign from the Blues this summer…

Nemanja Matic

Without hesitation, it’s fair to say that the 28-year-old has been of major importance to the Blues since re-joining the club in the January of 2014. He was a crucial member in both of Chelsea’s successful title campaigns (2014/15 and 2016/17), he’s also displayed his ability to develop partnerships with midfielders who attain contrasting styles, Cesc Fabregas and N’Golo Kante.

At the age of 28, one could argue that the Serbian midfielder is reaching the pinnacle of his abilities, and while he doesn’t provide long-term cover in midfield, he is an exceedingly suitable option for United’s immediate future.  Due to his height and excellent tackling ability, his presence would provide United’s defence with excellent protection and will add a sense of composure to the Red Devils’ midfield.

Kurt Zouma

Another intriguing option that Mourinho should opt to pursue is Kurt Zouma. The Frenchman has failed to regain a spot in Conte’s starting eleven having recovered from a lengthy knee injury, and the Blues are supposedly willing for the 22-year-old to leave on loan. On his day, there aren’t many defenders can rival Zouma’s pace and ability to complete last-gasp challenges.

His arrival at United would also signal a return with Mourinho, the manager who signed and gave Zouma his debut with Chelsea and entrusted him with a start in the final of the League Cup against Spurs – a game that Chelsea won 2-0.  If Zouma successfully regains his form, there aren’t many in the league who can rival his talent.
