The Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still wondering whether or not they’re going to win the title this season.
Over the summer, the Utd fans in the Tavern were adamant that their side was going to challenge for the Premier League this season.
Signing Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as appointing Jose Mourinho as Louis Van Gaal’s replacement was a real statement of intent from the Old Trafford club, with many in the Tavern suggesting that a title challenge was coming.
Some results this season, though, have suggested otherwise. Losses at home to Manchester City and Watford away, in particular, have left some fans thinking it may be too soon to start thinking about the title and that Jose Mourinho needs to work more on his squad.
He may have to get rid of some players too and it remains to be seen just who – but our landlord thinks that he must not let these two go…
Bastian Schweinsteiger
The German star has struggled to force his way into Mourinho’s plans so far but that does not mean he should be shown the door.
He was top drawer for Bayern Munich and that kind of ability does not go away simply and never return.
He needs to be given a lot more time, then, as he still has a lot to offer and that’s why United should not even think about letting him go.
Matteo Darmian
Darmian has hardly played under Mourinho after a promising start to his United career under Louis Van Gaal.
He is, however, an Italy international and you don’t become one of those by being a poor player. What’s more, he also offers another option for United in the full-back areas where they look short.
Mourinho would be a fool to let him go in January.
