Never afraid to spend, the Portuguese boss is likely already planning a list of targets that he could approach in January – and our landlord thinks that would be wise to invest in central midfield.

Granted, United have a wealth of players in the position – but Jose Mourinho seemingly doesn’t seem to rate them. Schneiderlin hasn’t had a look in, whilst players like Michael Carrick are edging closer to retirement – meaning that Mourinho could be looking to invest in younger, more exciting talent.

With that said, Mourinho should look to secure a deal for these 2 central midfielders in January…

Youri Tielemans

Youri Tielemans is a midfielder that has been heavily hyped in the Football Transfer Tavern as of late, and January could be the time in which he makes his long-awaited move to the Premier League.

The young Belgian midfielder is a deep-lying playmaker, much in vein of a player like Cesc Fabregas, and he could prove to be a deadly midfield partner with Paul Pogba in the future.

Certainly a raw product, Mourinho could look to grow the youngster in his own image.

Offering offensive creativity alongside defensive stability – Tielemans could be the man for Mourinho.

 Fabinho

Whilst many tout Fabinho as a right-back, for Monaco this season he has largely been limited to a role in the heart of the midfield.

Granted, his versatility could be a reason to consider the Brazilian for Mourinho – but our landlord thinks that a role for Fabinho in the middle of the Man Utd midfield could be perfect.

He is strong in the tackle but he is also offensively proficient, and he would serve as the perfect man to shoot balls through to Paul Pogba en route to a Man Utd attack.
