Jose Mourinho is not a happy man right now and neither, really, are our resident Red Devils punters here in the Transfer Tavern.

After the great excitement of the Portuguese’s arrival and bold claims from their fans that the club were going to win the league things have turned sour pretty sharpish.

The club started off well enough in the league but have lost to Watford and Manchester City as well as getting hammered by Chelsea.

They’ve played some dour football too and the latest result, a draw against Burnley, has to be considered as one of the worst of the season so far.

Mourinho, then, could be thinking of a happier time to relieve the stress right now and his days in Italy would certainly come to mind.

During his time at Inter Milan he won the treble and he’d surely give anything for that kind of success now.

He may turn to some Italian players, then, to try and do just that and so here are TWO our landlord reckons he should sign…

Domenico Berardi

Berardi is one of the next big things in Italian football and can play down the middle as a striker or down the right wing.

He’s been influential for Sassuolo in their rise to the top division and that has got him to catch the attention of many clubs in Europe.

United need fresh legs and ideas up top right now, though, so they should make sure they are at the front of the queue.

Stephan El Shaarawy

On the wings Manchester United currently have an out of position Marcus Rashford and an out of form Anthony Martial with others like Jesse Lingard coming in and out of the side.

Mourinho must feel it’s time to get a new wide-man in then and El Shaarawy could be just the ticket.

He’s got pace and trickery to utilise on the flanks and would be a welcome boost to the United attack.
