Necwastle fans on Twitter have zero faith in Almiron deal

The rumours linking Miguel Almiron to Newcastle just keep on coming, and the Newcastle fans just keep on batting them away as they refuse to get their hopes up over a move for one of the MLS’ most exciting prospects. However, the latest update in the Almiron saga has seen The Chronicle report that the club’s head of recruitment, Steve Nickson, is to fly to the States to discuss a move.

Considering how many clubs are after the Paraguayan playmaker, the Geordies will be in shock if they pull this one off. It’s been widely reported that both of the North London clubs, Tottenham and Arsenal, are keen on swooping for the midfielder and that alone has given the Magpies the feeling that they’ll never be able to secure this one, especially with Mike Ashley at the helm.

However, as more and more reports surface about steadfast interest that The Geordies, and Rafa Benitez in particular, have in Almiron, the fans may just allow themselves to believe. If Newcastle do manage to lure the Atlanta United man to the Northeast it will be a huge coup. The signing may cost them more than Michael Owen did back in 2005, which would see them finally break their 13-year transfer record, to the delight of the fans.
