The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to the summer transfer window with a renewed sense of optimism. It hasn’t been an easy period for the Red Devils, but success could very well be on the horizon.

Jose Mourinho’s men have enjoyed a decent season, and though their lack of a challenge to Man City has been frustrating, it can’t be denied that they’ve made big strides under the Portuguese boss.

Next season, though, even more will be wanted, and the demands will be far higher.

Mourinho has done a great job of rebuilding a faltering team, and much of that work has been done by bringing in top quality players.

This summer, though, Mourinho needs to look at the other end of the spectrum. He needs to consider the players that are already at the club, and he needs to move those that aren’t good enough on.

With that said, Man Utd should freshen things up by selling these 3 players this summer…

 Daley Blind

Daley Blind hasn’t really had the best time of it since the departure of Louis van Gaal.

The Dutchman is a solid player, but it’s a simple case of him not being good enough to play regularly at Old Trafford.

There is a real need to reduce the deadweight at Old Trafford, and unfortunately for Blind, the minimal role that he has played this season highlights his role – or lack thereof – in the squad.

A step down might be best for him and for the Red Devils.

 Matteo Darmian

Matteo Darmian’s time at Man Utd has been marred by inconsistency, both in terms of his performances and the regularity of his appearences.

The Italian is a decent player, but he’s far from the standard that the Old Trafford faithful have come to expect.

Jose Mourinho needs to start bringing in recognised, top-tier talent – and Darmian simply doesn’t fall into those parameters.

 Luke Shaw

Jose Mourinho clearly doesn’t rate Luke Shaw, and so there is no point in keeping him at the club.

Not only would his sale free up a slot in the side to bring in a new defender, but another season on the sidelines would likely see Shaw’s value drop substantially, and so the Red Devils are never going to be able to earn more from his sale than they will this summer.

He’s a fantastic player, and most Man Utd fans would likely want the Englishman to stay at the club, but it doesn’t look likely at this point.
