New era: 82% of polled Chelsea fans think it’s time for Gary Cahill to leave the club

Chelsea have had some tremendous leaders over the years, but one of the best has undeniably been Gary Cahill. Underrated by fans of his club and country, the Englishman has won practically everything there is to win over the last few years, and he deserves so much praise for that.

However, his contract expires at the end of the season, and it appears as though Blues fans are expecting him to leave. We recently asked Chelsea supporters whether he’s on the verge of a club exit, and in response, a whopping 82% of those polled think that he is.

Of course, Gary Cahill is one of only a few players to keep his place at Stamford Bridge for so many years, with the Englishman remaining at the club through a handful of managers, trophy wins and new eras.

When he does depart, it will certainly represent a new era for the Blues, but it’s probably time for that to happen.

Cahill’s quality has reduced significantly over the last year or two, with the veteran replaced as of late by the duo of Antonio Rudiger and David Luiz.

Lacking pace, consistency and quality, whilst also making regular mistakes, it’s important that Cahill doesn’t stain his legacy, and to be honest, it’s probably the right time for him to go.
