There isn’t too much to smile about at Newcastle at present. They’re yet to win a game in the Premier League so far this season, and they suffered a disappointing loss over the weekend to Chelsea, whom in the past they’ve had a very strong record against.
There have been some positives for the club, but for the most part, they’ve been drowned out by a bit of a sea of negativity at St James’ Park.
Unfortunately, there has been another negative event at the club over the last week. According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle players Jamal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie have tangled together in training, with an apparent bust-up occurring behind closed doors.
Despite the negative connotations that would normally surround an incident like this, however, many Newcastle fans online haven’t taken it that way. Indeed, they’ve flipped the incident on its head, and they’re proclaiming it to be a good thing for the club.
Clearly impressed by the passion on display by Jamaal Lascelles, in particular, they’re clearly hoping that the Englishman is able to help buoy his teammates and allow them to kickstart their season.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
Benitez, Lascelles and Ritchie are all competitors. They all want to win. The fact they had a bust up shows their level of committment and passion. You can only like that. These dudes want to win. There is absolutely no drama out there. #NUFC

Both passionate about Newcastle United, both give both on and off the pitch. It’s only natural in an all male environment that bust ups like this happen, if it actually did!! Stop trying to make it a sensational story, typical Daily Mail reporting, only good for toilet paper.

No doubt they were both going for it in training, both passionate players which i don't mind.

Passion isn’t a bad thing. A better squad with no passion got us relegated. Ex pro’s always talk of bust ups – it’s part of wanting to win I guess?

I’ve read this article Craig and to be honest it’s what every Newcastle fan would want from passionate players. They for one have passion and love for the club and I don’t think Rafa will be overly concerned at this. Rafa deep down will love this from his captain @Lascelles16.

Players argue in training all the time, just like players in games who are friends sometimes end up scrapping on the pitch. They’ve shook hands and remain good friends so there isn’t a problem. Look forward to seeing @Lascelles16 back in the side soon

The last time Lascelles chinned someone he turned Mo Diame into Patrick Viera. Hoping Matt Ritchie will turn out v City like Ronaldinho. In fact if Big J wants to come and give me a smack round the head, he’s more than welcome #NUFC
