Loads of Newcastle fans were left in awe of Allan Saint-Maximin on Saturday, as the cult hero produced the only goal in the 1-0 win at St. Mary’s.
You’d be hard pushed to find a more popular figure round Tyneside than Saint-Maximin. Whether it’s helping out at fan-run food banks or his hilarious social media activity, the 22 year-old is fast becoming at St. James’ Park icon.
He was at his best in once again in mid-week as he produced a phenomenal assist against West Brom in the FA Cup, but went one better on Saturday by finding the net for himself with a goal entirely of his own making, pressuring Yan Valery into losing possession before firing past Alex McCarthy.
Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman was the second-highest rated player on Sofascore behind the Saints goalkeeper, winning 11 of his 19 duels and completing a remarkable seven dribbles. You can find some of the best Twitter reactions to his display down below…
