Aleksandar Mitrovic walked away from St James Park this summer, ending his three-year stay with the club. Now he’s a Fulham player on a full-time basis, he’s commented that Rafa Benitez and Newcastle failed to play to his strengths as a forward. His comments in The Telegraph have drawn a lot of negative comments out of the Magpies.

At Newcastle, Benitez needs all eleven of his players to put in a shift all over the pitch. The Geordies expect their striker to press the backline and defend from the front and that’s simply not in Mitrovic’s nature. The Serbian striker is now at Craven Cottage and the 23-year-old striker will be desperate to show Newcastle fans what he’s all about and score goals aplenty in London.
Despite this, the Magpies will be desperate to see one of their boys outscore Mitrovic and the league to wipe the smug look off of the ex-Anderlecht man’s face. The striker’s non-compliance to do what was asked of him is what has cost him a future at St James Park and plenty of Geordies would have expected him to be able to adapt to the tactics that the club played without getting himself needlessly sent off, that hasn’t been the case, though.

I personally thought Mitrovic had ample opportunity but he only showed himself to be a liability and a bang average striker. The FA cup defeat against Oxford made my mind up about him.

As you can see, the supporters are all pleased to see Mitrovic has been sold and won’t be listening to any more of his comments now he’s left the club.
