The Premier League returns this weekend and Newcastle United will be continuing in their search for a win in the competition, with a huge clash against Brighton and Hove Albion at St James Park on Saturday. Fabian Schar was in action for his Native Switzerland over the international break and now a lot of the Magpies are keen to see him start this weekend.

Fabian Schar was one of Rafa Benitez’s summer signings over the last transfer window as he joined the club having previously turned out for Deportivo La Coruna in the Spanish first division. However, last season the Swiss defender was unable to prevent his side getting relegated from La Liga, a fate that he’ll be desperate to avoid this season with Newcastle United in the Premier League.
If he does want to try and help the club avoid the drop he’ll have to convince Rafa Benitez that he deserves to be starting. The defender made his debut for The Geordies in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea at St James Park earlier in the season and whilst it was a loss against The Blues, the defender still impressed a lot of the fans. The season has been shocking so far for the Magpies and with Jamaal Lascelles struggling for form, a recall for Schar alongside Fernandez could be just what the doctor ordered against Brighton.
