If Salomon Rondon has proven anything this season it’s that the Magpies need him and that he’s more than good enough to cut it for a relegation-threatened side in the Premier League. However, it seems some people at St James Park aren’t entirely convinced, as The Daily Mail is reporting that the Geordies are reluctant to pay his buyout clause.

If this is the case the Magpies will be absolutely furious. At the moment the reports claim that Newcastle United are ready to part with a fee of around £12 million for the Venezuelan striker, yet with a buyout clause in the 29-year-old’s West Brom contract of just a few million more at £16.5 million, the Magpies are being petty. The worry is that this pettiness could cost them the goal-machine in the summer.
So far this season, the Geordies have seen their on-loan front-man bag an impressive nine Premier League goals and five assists, and without his important contribution, they would certainly be facing a nervous few weeks ahead. The article does claim that the club are looking at other strikers, including the young Joelinton at Hoffenheim, yet the Geordies want to stick with what they know and are desperate to just throw the Rondon money at West Brom.

The Geordies cannot believe that they’re getting caught up on £4.5 million which could jeopardise the transfer of this season’s saviour, and if this is a hint of things to come they’ll hope Rafa Benitez has some good 4th choice signings in mind in the summer.
