Newcastle United are obviously without a manager after the departure of Rafa Benitez and The Mirror have claimed that Steven Gerrard has rebuffed an attempt from Mike Ashley to bring him to St. James’ Park.

Oddly, the reaction from some of the fans, that you will see below, has mostly been of support of Gerrard’s decision to snub them.
Benitez left the club back at the end of June when his contract expired, and the statement that the Spaniard left for the fans before departing pointed the finger towards Mike Ashley and ‘those at the top of the club’ claiming that they ‘did not share the same vision’, which the fans can read on Rafa Benitez’s Twitter account.
The Telegraph had suggested the former England skipper was on the club’s radar as they search for a new boss, though according to the most recent update, Gerrard is ready to stay in Glasgow for his second season in charge.

Hahaha good on him. No one wants to work under him

I don’t blame him

He won’t be the last.

Good for him, if true. Couldn’t see any decent manager working under Ashley’s regime.

That didn’t take long, mind I’d be surprised if Rafa didn’t warn him off it

Nobody going to take the job as long as the FCB is running the show! #ghostclub

Not suprised in the slightest, his stock is rising, can’t see why he would want to risk that coming here
