Newcastle fans on Twitter were given real scare by Fabian Schar on international duty

Newcastle fans don’t need any injuries at the moment. The Magpies are well amongst it as they fight to try and match or better their 10th placed Premier League finish from last season. Fabian Schar will be key to their hopes of achieving that, and he suffered a real injury worry over the weekend whilst featuring for Switzerland, panicking his club fans.

The Rossocrociati got off to a winning start in their UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers with a 2-0 win over Georgia away from home in what promises to be a tough group. Schar and co also have the Republic of Ireland, Gibraltar and Denmark to overcome in their group, and will be desperate to get through those without any more concussions after Schar was put out cold.

The Newcastle man, who has been a real revelation this season, suffered a blow to the head that knocked him unconscious after just 25 minutes. However, after receiving treatment and being given the all-clear, the 27-year-old played on, bossed the game and helped his side record a winning start to their qualifying campaign. Geordies everywhere would have been screwing to see their man carry on after being knocked out, yet you can’t fault Schar’s bottle after opting to carry on.

The last thing the Geordies want is to lose their defender for a length of time, however, his health must come hope and it will now be up to the Magpies’ doctors to decide just how fit the defender is.
