Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has been an instrumental part of their season thus far. He’s scored five goals in 15 appearances for the Magpies this season, including a run of strikes in three consecutive games in December.
While the festive period started well, Newcastle’s form fell off quickly. They’ve won just one of their last six games in the Premier League, conceding 11 goals in that time. They’ve suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Leicester in that time.
Shelvey missed their 1-1 draw with Wolves, but he has generally been an important part of their team this season. It’s been four years since he joined the club from Swansea City and he has made over 100 appearances in that time.
