Newcastle – Millions Out

Following our piece yesterday on Newcastle United’s interest in Manchester City’s U21 defender Nedum Onuoha…

The Toon have been reveled as skint members. The player has been priced at c.£7 million and consequently beyond their budget.

If I were a Newcastle fan I’d take this a refreshing news. Onuoha is far from the finished article and if he were not an English player at a Premiership club, then his value would be an awful lot closer to the £3 million Hughton probably had in mind.

There was a time when this sort of player would have been hoovered up by Newcastle on a silly salary without much thought.

Maybe, just maybe, common sense is creeping back into St. James.
