Newcastle make contact for “unplayable” £51m ace

Newcastle United are expected to reinvest in their right winger role this summer, as they prepare for their second Champions League campaign under Eddie Howe.

The Magpies have just completed their most successful season in recent history, adding silverware and European qualification to their progress since their Saudi-led takeover in late 2021.

Despite making Geordie dreams come true all over the North East over the last few months, Howe will be keen to continue pushing for more success and building upon their ambitions to compete with Europe’s elite consistently.

It is no secret that Newcastle will need to add valuable depth to their squad this summer to compete comfortably next season, with their additional fixtures taken into consideration.

Following the sale of Miguel Almiron, the club is in desperate need to bolster the right flank of their already impressive attacking threat and were reported to make Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo their top target.

However, reports this week have confirmed that the Cameroon international has chosen to join Manchester United instead, and there are currently negotiations underway for the talented attacker to join the Red Devils.

As a result, the Magpies will need to move on quickly, and Caught Offside are reporting that Chelsea winger Noni Madueke could be the potential alternative to Mbeumo.

The publication has reported that Newcastle have made an approach for the England international to understand better the player’s situation, but could need to compete with AC Milan for his signature if their interest is concrete.

It is claimed that Newcastle’s valuation of Madueke sits at around €42m (£35m), however, Chelsea value their young talent at around €60m (£51m).

Should Newcastle sign Noni Madueke?

The Newcastle boss has had a fantastic record for developing young Premier League players that have been unable to reach their full potential at their previous clubs.

Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon are all great examples of young English players who have taken their game to the next level at Newcastle, which could be an appealing prospect for Madueke when considering his immediate future.

Over 32 Premier League appearances, the 23-year-old – once hailed “unplayable at times” by TNT Sports pundit Peter Crouch – has scored seven goals and registered three assists, as well as averaging 1.1 key passes per game with noted strengths in playmaking, high pressing and passing.

Indeed, Madueke is not currently tallying up the numbers of Mbeumo, but with a prolific striker like Alexander Isak by his side it could be a blossoming partnership that encourages a more consistent output from both players on the pitch together.

Not only that, the former PSV Eindhoven attacker has a wealth of experience in both Premier League and European football, making him a ready-made signing that should not find it difficult at all to quickly get to work in the squad.

With that being said, there is a real opportunity to add another young English talent with bags of potential and if Newcastle could agree a deal with Chelsea, there is no doubt that Howe could get the best from Madueke.
