Newcastle’s 2025/26 pre-season: Fixtures, results & where to watch

Newcastle United will be looking to kick on after a stellar 2024/25 brought silverware and a return to the Champions League.

Their Carabao Cup triumph over would-be Premier League champions Liverpool was a reminder of Newcastle’s rediscovered status in the English game as challengers for major honours, with the Magpies surely eyeing up the big one before too long.

A key to such a campaign, particularly with their European commitments in mind, will be an ideal preparation during pre-season.

So who will they face, and where can you watch the action? Here is all the information you need to know.

Newcastle’s pre-season fixtures

The Toon are set for a busy pre-season, with six matches pencilled in ahead of their Premier League bow against Aston Villa on 16th August.

Their first assignment of the summer is in Glasgow, where they will take on Celtic for the Adidas Trophy at Parkhead.

They then set off for Asia to face Arsenal, Tottenham and a K-League XI, before heading home for a double-header at St James’ Park, where La Liga duo Espanyol and Atletico Madrid await.

The latter fixture marks the return of the Sela Cup, with men’s and women’s teams taking part once again.

Last year saw the Lasses defeat Milan on penalties after a 2-2 draw, with Eddie Howe’s side beating Girona and Stade Brest across the weekend.

Newcastle’s 2025/26 Premier League fixtures

Newcastle have been handed an intriguing start to the new Premier League season, with the Magpies taking part in the first Saturday lunchtime kick-off when they travel to Villa Park, while they also host Liverpool and Arsenal within their first six games.

They will have to wait until 13th December for the first Tyne-Wear derby of the campaign, with a trip to the Stadium of Light marking their first top-flight derby clash with Sunderland since 2015/16.

Note: All fixtures are subject to change. Only TV selections for fixtures in August have been announced.
