Newcastle United could make a real statement by signing up Philippe Coutinho if the proposed takeover of Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabia-led consortium is eventually approved by the Premier League as France Football have reported that Steve Bruce’s team ‘could win the bet’ by signing him ahead of various rivals in the top flight in the upcoming summer transfer window.

As per the outlet, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the FC Barcelona ace, who has spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich.
The German giants apparently have a purchase option of 120 million euros (roughly £106.8 million), but negotiations have allegedly already started between Coutinho and the Magpies.
It would arguably be a real statement of intent from the would-be owners of the Tyneside club if they were to bring the 27-year old to the North East, no matter what kind of price is put on him to go there.
Coutinho already has pedigree with Liverpool in England, as he scored 54 goals and made 45 assists in 201 games in all competitions for the Anfield outfit, according to Transfermarkt. Added to that, he also has 30 goals and 19 assists combined from his time at Barca and Bayern.
The Brazilian international has also won trophies wherever he has played, picking up titles with the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and his own national team (via the website).
If the would-be owners are ambitious, then they will be looking to bring trophies to St. James’ Park, and given that Coutinho has had the experience and has proven his quality in English football, he could well be the man to drive the Toon forward into a new and potentially successful era.
