According to Chronicle Live, Newcastle United are looking into the possibility of signing Callum Wilson from Bournemouth.
It’s exciting news for our Magpies fans here in the Transfer Tavern who have seen their side stride forward in the Championship in recent weeks to leave them five points clear – looking good for promotion at the first time of asking.
Last season was a pretty dour affair at St. James’ Park but the feel good factor seems to be back under Rafael Benitez and they are certainly proving they know where the goal is this year.
Dwight Gayle, in particular, has impressed this season after joining in the summer from Crystal Palace, and if the club were to sign Wilson they would surely only score even more goals.
The Bournemouth man has proven himself able to score in the Premier League since the Cherries’ debut season last year.
He suffered a lengthy setback through injury during that campaign, though, and is still not quite at the level he was before the issue.
Nevertheless, he is still a potent attacking threat and should the Magpies get him in, they’ll be confident of taking on many sides regardless of division.
