Newcastle United: Fans delight at Rafa Benitez’ message to the club on MNF

Appearing as a guest in the latest addition of Monday Night Football alongside Jamie Carragher, former Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez revealed all from his managerial career in England – from Istanbul tactics to discussing the Everton job – but these Newcastle fans are emotional over his particular quotes surrounding the Magpies.

Benitez, who currently manages Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League, was a well received guest on the acclaimed MNF programme covering Arsenal’s victory over West Ham at the London Stadium.

Beforehand, and even after the game’s conclusion, the Spaniard discussed a variety of topics but had one particular message to Newcastle surrounding his exit and how he wishes the club all the best in future.

Speaking on the Sky Sports programme, Benitez said: “I’m really pleased Newcastle are doing well, and I’m really pleased for Steve Bruce – he’s doing a great job. That’s what I expected. We wanted to try and get into the top 10 but that wasn’t the idea and it’s fine. Hopefully they’ll continue to do well.”

As a result, Magpies supporters have been getting emotional on social media over their former manager’s delight at how they’re currently surpassing all expectations.

Steve Bruce’s side currently lie 10th in the Premier League after impressive results against Manchester City, Sheffield United and Southampton.
