Many Newcastle United fans are discussing former player Andros Townsend’s comments on ex-manager Rafa Benitez after he talked to The Athletic (via ChronicleLive) about his time working with him.
The 28-year old opened up as he said that he was worried that the coach who signed him had gone, and questioned his decision to leave Tottenham Hotspur, as the Tyneside club were potentially getting relegated and he was out of the team and not playing.

Townsend recalled when Benitez gave him a confidence boost and eased a lot of his fears by telling him to come into the side when he was ready. He added that he would always listen to the Spanish coach as he was a big name, and claimed that they had a good relationship both on and off the pitch.
The Englishman summarised by labelling Rafa as authoritative and said that when he spoke, you listened.
