Lots of Newcastle United fans are discussing Joselu after Lee Ryder shared his latest article for ChronicleLive on his official Twitter page.
The journalist provided a reason as to why Rafa Benitez bought the striker, which was because of his aerial ability. This is exemplified by his stats in La Liga this season, where he has won a staggering 271 aerial duels, 66 more than his nearest challenger in the league. According to Ryder’s report, he has been nicknamed ‘the plane’ because of how much time he has spent in the air.
The 30-year old has scored a relatively impressive nine goals and made three assists in 26 appearances in the Spanish top flight this campaign for Deportivo Alaves, according to Transfermarkt.
One Magpie claimed that he is better than Joelinton, but comparing Joselu’s last term on Tyneside in relation to the Brazilian this season, it is perhaps unjustified. Joselu scored two goals compared to Joelinton’s single effort, but the latter still has matches left to play. The 23-year old has also averaged more shots, key passes and dribbles than Joselu did last season, as per Whoscored.

That’s because la liga is a different kettle of fish in comparison to the PL. the PL is far more physical and faster paced whereas la liga is slower and obv less physical… more tiki taka. He just isn’t suited to the English game, no questioning his effort! Always gave 100%
