Many Newcastle United fans have discussed a takeover report that talked about what the Tyneside club could learn from Everton, who have spent lots of money without making it far.
ChronicleLive relayed quotes from an interview with Liverpool Echo’s Toffees reporter Phil Kirkbride, who talked about how the Magpies can learn from the Merseyside club’s mistakes to ensure that it does not happen to them.
As per the article, the Blues have found backing in the form of Iranian Farhad Moshiri, but as they have found out, money does not always buy success. Kirkbride believes that a lot of the cash pumped into EFC was spent poorly, and whilst they were trying to build a squad to challenge the top six, in the end they just ended up finishing lower down the table with a bigger wage bill, as the players brought in were not performing.
Members of the Toon faithful will hope that this does not happen to their beloved club, and these NUFC supporters have been discussing what the best strategies are to ensure future success. One fan even suggested bringing Rafa Benitez back as manager on Twitter:
Everton bought some rubbish for over the top prices, I'm sure we'll be more wiser

What we need is a good structure about those making football decisions. Manager, director of Football and anyone involved in that. Manchester City invested in this area more than most and had the knowledge and connections needed. We will need to do the same.

Manager is the key thing for this. Until Ancellotti, they spent major money on everything apart from the manager and had poor managers. If we bring in a top quality manager and spend the money they have, we’ll be better placed to succeed.

Not spent correctly, poor recruitment of staff, not looking at numbers and data properly, get a decent DOF who knows how to negotiate and we wont tread the same path

Realistically I’d like to see @JetroWillems_15 & @valentinolazaro deals made permanent. A new RB (Achraf Hakimi would be my choice) the lad from Lille in CM that we bid for in January, then a proper goal scorer. I don’t think a major overhaul would be healthy at this time #nufc

but development (training, facilities, science, youth) our future basically, give the geordies of the future the best possible chance.
Oh and sign up the Ferguson brothers to long term deals
I personally would want Rafa back

No, money doesnt always equal success, but it does a hell of a long way to finding it.
