According to a report from the Northern Echo, officials at Newcastle United are set to ‘call time’ on their pursuit of Championship star Jarrod Bowen following a transfer saga that has gone on since the summer – with Magpies supporters in absolute disarray over the club’s lack of conviction.
Newcastle were linked to Bowen for some time, especially with their need for a prolific attacking midfielder, taking into account their preferred front three of Allan Saint-Maximin (injured), Joelinton and Miguel Almiron have only scored a combined two goals so far this season.
In contrast, Bowen’s numbers in England’s second division are nothing short of exceptional – having netted 15 goals and four assists in just 22 league appearances this season, as per WhoScored.com.
Whether or not he would replicate that fine form in the Premier League is up for debate, but there was reason to feel optimistic over potentially securing his signature.
However, with the news that Newcastle have apparently ended their pursuit, supporters are anything but happy.

Pretty standard from the club if true. Make noise about signings but never ever get first choice. We can afford to buy Joelinton for £40M when untested in the uk but Bowen who is premier league class playing in the championship isn’t worth chasing??

Penny pinching by not buying him in the summer is yet again why we miss out. The club’s recruitment is criminally badly run. Always leaving us short. The defence is apparently expected to score the clubs goals to keep us up.
