Newcastle United: Fans fume at Joelinton amid positional change debate

After falling to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Burnley, with record summer signing Joelinton failing to find the net again, some supporters are slamming the forward whilst also trying to find ways to potentially fix their dilemma with the £40 million man.

The former Hoffenheim forward joined Newcastle United from the Bundesliga last summer with real promise over his price tag, having netted seven goals and five assists in the 2018/2019 season – whilst also scoring in the Champions League.

This potentially prompted the Magpies to smash their transfer record to acquire his signature, but so far this campaign, he hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations – scoring just once all season way back in August.

Now, with star winger Allan Saint-Maximin, their main source of creativity given that he’s averaged the most dribbles out of anyone in their squad, set to be out over the festive period – some supporters have come together and racked their brains over how Joelinton could benefit the side further.

Promising? I hate to be negative and usually give every player a fair chance but the guy came for 40m, I expect alot better than promising for 40m. He doesn’t jump so he’s not a target man, he lacks pace so he’s not an inbehind player and his touch is inconsistant.

He cannot hold the ball up and bring others into play. He’s always facing the wrong way. He doesn’t put his body on the line. Cannot pass or header. Has no pace. What has the club got for its £40m. That’s why Rafa didn’t want him.
