Newcastle United: Fans glad chances of signing Alfredo Morelos look slim

Newcastle United fans seemed to be thanking their lucky stars that Steve Bruce is reportedly downbeat over the chances of signing Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.

Morelos has scored 28 times this season in all competitions, so with Newcastle’s attackers lacking goals (with no forward notching more than once by the end of the calendar year), sourcing a striker in January could do the Magpies the world of good.

However, there were several concerns regarding the Colombian’s disciplinary record, which has seen the striker sent off twice this month alone, while the 23-year-old was dismissed five times last season.

Last week, he was sent off for a second bookable offence for diving towards the end of last weekend’s Old Firm match.

As a result, fans reacted positively to reports from the Daily Star that Bruce is not too hopeful of bringing Morelos to St. James’ Park due to Rangers’ attempts to win a first Scottish title in nine years.
