After another brilliant result at home to Southampton, with goals from Jonjo Shelvey and Federico Fernandez ultimately sealing their second win in a row, supporters have since laughed off a quote from Shelvey which hints that he has aspirations to play in the Europa League next season with Newcastle.
The Magpies currently sit in 10th after a run of impressive results, most notably drawing 2-2 at home to Premier League champions Manchester City, but supporters are not getting too carried away and dreaming of Thursday nights in Europe just yet.
Shelvey, however, speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, hinted at the possibility of turning this fine run of form into European qualification come the end of the season.
Of course, anything is possible in football, but supporters have told the 27 year-old to keep his feet on the ground and focus on securing their survival in the Premier League for another season.
