Newcastle United got off to a losing start against Arsenal last weekend, and it was a game marred by protests as the club recorded an attendance of just 47,635, as per Transfermarkt, lower than last season’s lowest league attendance of 48,323 vs Burnley.
Charnley: “Our gym is perfectly adequate and functional. Do we have a swimming pool or water facilities? No. Would we like to have it at some stage? Absolutely.”
Sobering. Depressing. Adequate and Functional United. #NUFC

The fans are staying away, and it looks like Lee Charley’s recent comments are doing nothing to encourage them to return to St. James’ Park either, as his recent comments about the club’s training facilities have incensed the Geordies.
Speaking to The Evening Chronicle, via The London Economic, Charnley said: ‘Our pitches are very good, our gym is perfectly adequate and functional. Do we have a swimming pool or water facilities? No. Would we like to have it at some stage? Absolutely.’ A comment that has led to furious responses from the Magpies.

Charnley is far from a popular figure at St. James’ Park, and it doesn’t look like that will change anytime soon.
