A lot of Newcastle fans on Twitter have been urging their club to act upon rumours in The Express and make a move to sign Aston Villa striker, Jonathan Kodjia. The Magpies would be rivalling Leeds United for the Ivorian’s signature and the 28-year-old will definitely be on the move this summer after Steven Bruce confirmed that The Villains will be selling him.

Newcastle United need a striker. That much has become common knowledge as the Geordies have shown an interest in Alassane Plea, Salomon Rondon and Danny Ings, but now they could be looking to sign a cheaper alternative in Villa’s Kodjia. The St James Park faithful will be saying goodbye to Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer with Fulham his likely destination, however, the fans are worried that they won’t be able to adequately replace the Serbian.
The signing of Kodjia would make perfect sense this summer, the Villa man has all the attributes needed for a Premier League striker. He’s sharp in the box, strong enough to hold off defenders and has a yard of pace in his locker. Villa are on the brink of financial implosion and will be forced to sell a number of star players on the cheap, with Kodjia being one of those it’s the sort of deal that has Mike Ashley licking his lips. The Magpies will be hoping the Championship star does sign and if he does he’ll need to hit the ground running in the Northeast.
Here’s what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying:
