Plying his trade on Tyneside since 2016, Newcastle United fans think Jonjo Shelvey’s time with the Magpies could well be drawing to a close.
According to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle, midfielder Shelvey is now motivated to play for a new deal, with his current contract set to expire in 2021.

Having started just ten games in Rafael Benitez’ last season for the club (as per WhoScored), the Englishman was apparently close to joining boyhood club West Ham in the summer window, but the player eventually opted against it – pledging his future to the Magpies.
Now, ahead of a trip to the London Stadium on Saturday, Shelvey has hinted that he is playing for a new deal at St. James’ Park – with the hopes of earning his spot back in the starting line up following a hamstring injury at the start of the campaign.
In response, fans reacted somewhat pessimistically to the idea – possibly insinuating that a new deal just isn’t possible for the 27-year-old.
Won’t happen.
