Newcastle United have had a terrific recent period in the Premier League, drawing with current champions Manchester City and then going on a two-match winning streak – with defender Javier Manquillo going about his business quietly and competently since returning to the first-team fold.
The Spaniard put on an impressive display in their 2-2 draw at home to City, whilst also having competent run outs in their following two wins – with Newcastle fans praising the defender for his vigour and hard work to get back into the side.
Manquillo was previously struggling for consistent game time, partially due to the form of fellow full-back DeAndre Yedlin and the signing of Emil Krafth at the back for Steve Bruce’s side – but given his performances of late, it’s going to be hard to unseat him as the Magpies’ first choice heading into a crucial second half of December.
