Allan Saint-Maximin has been picked by Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer for his Premier League Team of the Week and the Frenchman publicly thanked the former England international, prompting loads of overjoyed replies from the Toon Army.
The French speedster is one of two Magpies to make the club legend’s team of the week, joining Jamaal Lascelles in the starting line-up. Indeed, Steve Bruce’s side surely quelled any lingering relegation fears with a crucial victory at St Mary’s on Sunday.
Saint-Maximin netted the match-winner in a moment of sheer magic to lift the Tyneside club above their Premier League rivals into 13th.
The 22-year-old has now scored 2 goals and created 2 assists in 18 games so far in his debut season in the English top flight. The former Nice forward scored 11 goals in 74 appearances for the French side before moving to St. James’ Park last summer (Transfermarkt).
