Newcastle United: Fans show love for Miguel Almiron after ‘fantastic’ celebration

Almost a year after signing for the Magpies in a record-breaking deal, Newcastle United midfielder Miguel Almiron finally opened his account for the club in their last gasp 1-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace – with the star’s celebration particularly capturing the hearts of supporters.

Steve Bruce’s side had to wait until the 83rd minute for Almiron’s eventual heroics, with the Paraguayan instinctively half-volleying the ball past a helpless Eagles keeper to seal all three points for the home side.

What followed was a euphoric moment for the player and supporters alike, with the 25-year-old waving his Newcastle jersey in celebration before sharing a moment with one of the ball boys on the near touchline.

It was a long time coming for the Paraguay international, signed from MLS side Atalanta United last January, and he’ll be looking to build on that moment and grab even more for the Magpies as they continue to surpass expectations this season.

Following the iconic aftermath of the goal, supporters highlighted the brilliant celebrations between Almiron and the ball boy – perhaps getting a little bit emotional.
