According to a report from the Chronicle [19:11], Newcastle United are not convinced that any Championship clubs can meet the £12-15 million price tag for outcast striker Dwight Gayle’s signature – with the idea of selling him on the cheap to free up space in the squad being ‘firmly ruled out’.

The Englishman, who has started just one Premier League game for the Magpies all season, making the vast majority of his appearances as a substitute, falling behind the likes of Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin, Andy Carroll and Miguel Almiron in the pecking order despite their collective lack of goals.
Gayle was sent out on a season-long loan last campaign to England’s second tier where he shone for West Bromwich Albion, finding the net 24 times in 40 appearances for the Baggies, but his prolific form in the Championship may not change the fact clubs in that division still won’t be able to afford his lofty price tag.
As a result, Newcastle supporters have slammed the club’s stubborn stance on his reported fee, insisting that they ship off the outcast for a potentially cheaper price – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
