Newcastle United: Fans slate Simon Jordan after boycott comments

Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to Simon Jordan’s comments regarding those parts of the Toon Army’s decision to boycott the Brighton game.

Former Crystal Palace owner, Simon Jordan, has commented on Newcastle fans’ boycott, as their attendance decreased once again, with 43,316 in watching on during the weekend’s drab draw with Brighton at St. James’ Park.

On Simon Jordan’s Final Word on TalkSPORT from Sunday, he questioned the faithfulness of some of Newcastle’s fans who were part of the boycott in protest of owner Mike Ashley although he was said to distance himself from the Sports Direct mogul.

“With respect, Newcastle aren’t in decline. They may not have had the opportunities that other football clubs have had, and they may not have the owners they wanted.

“It just made me feel that football is such an important part of people’s lives, it’s a one-club city. Whether you like Mike Ashley or not, why would you not be in the stadium supporting the football club you purport to love?”

Newcastle fans responded in their numbers and let their feelings be known in what has been a difficult campaign thus far. Indeed, just the one win under Steve Bruce sees the club hovering above the relegation zone ahead of this weekend’s clash with Leicester City.

Here are some of the responses…

Is he on Ashley’s payroll?
Seems to spend a lot of his time commenting on Newcastle when he has no affiliation known to the club

Excellent. In this latest edition seeking comments from people with more validity to speak about #nufc than Simon Jordan, I’m suggesting GMTV weather host Laura Tobin, Dizzee Rascal, Cheryl Baker, short sighted former England bowler Devon Malcolm and 80’s wrestler Marty Jannetty.

Oh honestly the guy a clown, he’s entitled to his opinion but every time he has an opinion he always up about with “every time me or anyone else speaks about NUFC fans are always down our throats” blah blah, we all know the club is losing money Simon but Ashley only likes money.
