Newcastle United: Fans split over their goal of the season so far

Following a decent few weeks for the Magpies, a period in which they’ve won consecutive games for the first time this season, Newcastle fans have got to work picking their early contender for goal of the season.

The Chronicle asked Newcastle supporters to select their favourite strike of the campaign so far.

Among the nominees are Jonjo Shelvey’s stunning free-kick against West Ham and Joelinton’s composed side-foot finish in the 1-0 away victory to Spurs.

Jetro Willems’ superb strike away to league leaders Liverpool – swivelling past Trent Alexander-Arnold and firing a rocket past Adrian to give the Magpies a shock 1-0 lead – is also a contender.

Last but not least is Matty Longstaff’s long-range effort to gift Steve Bruce’s side an epic victory over Manchester United at St. James’ Park.

With all these efforts making headlines for different reasons, supporters have been fairly mixed in whose goal should be crowned – with Newcastle fans seemingly split over who should be awarded the prize at this early stage.
