Newcastle United: Joselu form for Deportivo in La Liga has some Magpies supporters lauding ex-striker over Joelinton

Replying to an update from Lee Ryder in the Chronicle surrounding ex-Newcastle United striker Joselu, some Magpies supporters have lauded their former hitman over current forward Joelinton – with the 29-year-old currently enjoying life in La Liga.

The Spaniard left Tyneside in July 2019 shortly after former manager Rafael Benitez’s departure from the club, joining Deportivo Alaves for a small fee of £2.5 million. Since then, Joselu has gone on to rack up nine goals and one assist over 18 league starts for the club – all the while garnering 2.3 shots per game, as per WhoScored.com.

By comparison, current Magpies forward Joelinton has only managed 1.5 efforts on goal whilst scoring just once in the Premier League all season – with Joselu’s value for money looking vastly superior at this moment in time. Despite only notching six league goals over 46 appearances while plying his trade in the North East, Joselu’s form for Alaves has caught the eye of Newcastle fans who are crying out for a prolific goalscorer.
