Many Newcastle United fans reacted to a tweet from the club’s official Twitter account revealing Martin Dubravka is continuing his injury rehab with help from his dog Shay.
Since moving to St James’ Park from AC Sparta Prague for a mere £3.6m in July 2018, the goalkeeper has played in 80 games for the Magpies and kept 24 clean sheets in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Dubravka tops the official Premier League charts for the most amount of saves and errors leading to goals in the English top flight in this season so far. The Slovakian has made a staggering 117 saves in 29 appearances for the Tyneside club.
The 31-year-old is currently out of action with a nasty knee injury, but the ‘keeper is making progress in his recovery, largely thanks to the Black and Whites’ physio Michael Harding and a helpful canine companion.
Speaking to nufc.co.uk, Dubravka revealed: “I’m trying to spend time with my girlfriend, as she is the only [family member] in England for me, and it will be tough for her as well, so we are trying to spend time with our dog for long walks in the woods where there are no people.”

The club then added his French Bull Jack is named after Tyneside legend Shay Given. As expected, plenty of Geordies are drooling over the latest revelation, with one delighted supporter remarking “I love him even more now.”
