Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Celtic transfer target David Turnbull, according to The Chronicle.
As per the outlet, the Tyneside club apparently checked out the Motherwell ace a number of times when he was playing in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Celtic apparently pulled out of a possible deal last campaign due to concerns about his medical but are thought to still be interested in signing him in the upcoming summer transfer window.
One man who is believed to like the look of Turnbull is Steve Nickson, who is the head of recruitment at St. James’ Park.
The central midfield player is under contract at the Well until the year of 2022, but a £3 million transfer fee could be enough to persuade them to sell him.
Indeed, Turnbull has made a relatively impressive goal and assist return in Scotland based on the fact that he plays predominately in the heart of midfield, having managed 15 strikes and seven assists in 36 senior games in Scotland in all competitions (via Transfermarkt).
He is also a full Scottish under 21’s international having made his debut last year, and has since gone on to make another appearance for the team (per the website).
If Turnbull was to sign for the Magpies, then Steve Bruce may decide to put him in the youth squads given the number of options he has already in the middle of the park, but the 21-year old may have bigger ambitions to play for the senior side.

Nevertheless, only time will tell as to whether a deal can be agreed, but Turnbull could turn out to be a valuable addition for the future.
