Eddie Howe has hinted at another fitness concern for Newcastle United ahead of their trip to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

The Lowdown: Shelvey update

Speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference, Howe gave an update on Jonjo Shelvey's injury.

He shared that they expect the central midfielder to be out for 'around 12 weeks', after having a number of scans and listening to a number of experts' opinions.

Howe has also given updates on a number of other members of his squad ahead of the clash against the Seagulls.

The Latest: Krafth 'problem'

Speaking on Emil Krafth, Howe has shared that he has been suffering from muscle 'tightness', and has had two scans that have come back clear.

However, he also admitted that there is 'maybe a problem' with Krafth getting up to full speed, and is hoping that it will be 'very short term'.

The Verdict: Concerning

Even though Krafth does not appear to have picked up a serious injury, it is concerning to hear the doubts over his fitness.

The Sweden international did not manage to make the squad for the Magpies' 2-0 win at home to Nottingham Forest on the opening Premier League weekend, which left them without a natural right-back on the bench.

If Kieran Trippier were to pick up an injury, then the Tynesiders would ideally want to call on Krafth, but with these fitness concerns, it looks as if he may miss out on the squad again against Graham Potter's side.
