Newcastle United: Magpies ‘attractive’ to Leandro Trossard

Newcastle United: Magpies ‘attractive’ to Leandro Trossard -Newcastle United News

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has said that Newcastle United is an ‘attractive’ move for Brighton and Hove Albion winger Leandro Trossard.

The Lowdown: Ashworth interest

According to 90min, sporting director Dan Ashworth wants to take Trossard from his old club Brighton.

The report states that his current deal at the Seagulls is set to expire in 2024, and so he could be available for a cut-price deal, with Chelsea boss Graham Potter also interested in raiding his former club.

The Latest: Newcastle ‘attractive’ to Trossard

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke says that the St. James’ Park outfit would be an ‘attractive proposition’ to Trossard, as they have ‘huge ambitions’ going forward:

“I’m sure Newcastle – with where they’re going right now, being in the top four and obviously having money – have got huge ambitions going forward.

“It would be an attractive proposition for the likes of Trossard.”

The Verdict: Get it done

If there is a chance of a move for Trossard in the January transfer window, it is a deal that the North East club simply need to get done.

Hailed as an ‘outstanding’ player and the ‘next level above’ by pundit Paul Robinson, the Belgium international boasts six goals and two assists in the Premier League already this season, including a hat-trick against Liverpool at Anfield and a goal away at Manchester City last weekend (Transfermarkt).

Given his contract situation, to get a player of his quality and experience for a cut-price would be a no-brainer for the Magpies, and Ashworth’s connections with Brighton could help them push through a move in January.
