Many Newcastle United fans have slammed the performance of Ciaran Clark in their 1-1 draw with Leeds United in the Premier League on Friday night.

It was not a good start by the home side as Raphinha managed to score early on, but Allan Saint-Maximin rescued a point towards the end of the first half at St James' Park.

One player in particular who seemed to struggle at times, especially in the first half, was Clark, who lost out on two of his duels and ceded possession of the ball on nine separate occasions in the game (Sofascore).

The Republic of Ireland international also managed to record fewer touches (33) than his own goalkeeper Karl Darlow (41) and recorded a mere 64% pass accuracy in the match (Sofascore).

Newcastle fans on Clark's display

These Newcastle supporters on Twitter slammed the defender's performance last night, with one member of the Toon Army insisting that Clark was 'poor':

"Thought it was a good game for the neutral. Refereeing utter garbage considering Ritchie got booked for his 1st and Firpo etc lasted ages and Firpo should off been off. Thought Joelinton was excellent. What a difference a competent GK makes. Ritchie & Clark poor"

"Haven't decided which #nufc player was the worst in that first-half (for once, it's not Joelinton, who's had a decent match so far) - hesitate between Lascelles, Clark & Ritchie."
