The Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope has revealed a bumper Newcastle United injury update before they play Fulham away from home in the Premier League.

The Lowdown: Injury pile-up

The St. James' Park outfit currently have as many as nine first-team squad players on the treatment table at the moment, with the latest international break not being kind to them.

Nonetheless, the break has now finished, meaning that they can concentrate on the Premier League, with their next match a trip to Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

The Latest: Four returnees?

Taking to Twitter, Hope has revealed that as many as four of those players could recover from injury in time to play a part against Fulham, while Jonjo Shelvey is making 'excellent progress' with his own recovery, and is now 'nearing a return':

"Finally, for Newcastle, some good news re injuries. Understand Callum Wilson & Bruno will be fine for Fulham & Allan Saint-Maximin has chance of bench. Elliot Anderson (hamstring) trained today & Jonjo Shelvey (hamstring) has made excellent progress & is nearing return."

The Verdict: Huge boost

It will certainly be a huge boost for Eddie Howe and his squad if Wilson, Bruno Guimaraes, Saint-Maximin and Anderson all return over the weekend.

All of them have made at least three appearances so far this season, while Wilson in particular will be welcomed back having notched two goals in his three games (Transfermarkt).

With five draws in their opening seven league fixtures, the Magpies will be desperate for some firepower up top, and they could help turn those draws into wins.
