Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has given his reaction to some Newcastle United injury news on Callum Wilson.

The Lowdown: Back after internationals?

A source from the St. James' Park faithful has recently told Football Insider that Wilson is increasingly confident that he will be back available to play for the North East club after the international break has finished.

The former AFC Bournemouth striker has not played on Tyneside since he scored in the 2-2 draw at home to Southampton in the Premier League back in August.

The Latest: Agbonlahor reacts

Speaking to Football Insider, former Aston Villa star and England international Agbonlahor has said that having Wilson back will be a 'big boost', and the 34-year-old also thinks that Steve Bruce in particular will be 'buzzing' with the news:

“Definitely, it would be a big boost.

“Steve Bruce will be buzzing to get them back. That’s what they need.

“Judge him when he’s got his strongest team back.

“Every team has injuries but Steve Bruce has been unlucky because his squad is so small. When he has injuries he is tested dramatically.

“I’ve got no worries for Steve Bruce, he’ll be fine.”

The Verdict: Missed badly

There is no doubt that the Magpies have missed Wilson badly, having not being able to win any of the last four games in the Premier League without him, while only managing to score four goals in that time (Transfermarkt).

The Englishman himself had scored two in three matches before his injury, and will be welcomed back with open arms by the Toon Army.

Nonetheless, with news of the takeover going through as well, things are starting to look a lot brighter at NUFC, but we're not so sure Bruce will be 'fine' just off some positive injury news.
