Lee Ryder has slammed the display of Emil Krafth for Newcastle United in their 1-1 home draw with Aston Villa in the Premier League on Friday night.

Jamaal Lascelles spared the blushes of Steve Bruce at St. James' Park with a very late header in added time as the Tyneside club rescued a point in the North East, after going behind to a rather unfortunate Ciaran Clark own goal.

While there were some decent performances for the Magpies on the night, Krafth's flattered to deceive.

Writing in his latest ratings piece for The Chronicle, Ryder claimed that the Sweden international was 'not effective' and added that it was 'no surprise to see him replaced', giving him a measly 6/10 overall rating, the joint-second lowest out of any of the Toon players to have started the game.

Krafth was ineffective for Newcastle

As Ryder points out, Krafth was largely ineffective for NUFC, with very little attacking intent from right-back as he failed to record a single dribble, key pass or accurate cross (Sofascore).

The 26-year-old also lost out on six of his duels and lost possession of the ball no fewer than on 17 separate occasions in the match, the fourth-most out of any of his teammates (Sofascore).

Nonetheless, with Javier Manquillo making a return from injury, Krafth will no doubt have to put in much better displays if he is to keep his starting place in the side.
